Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing high quality of care and services to our
patients. Everything we do, every day, must support our continued ability
to improve the health and quality of life of the citizens of the community
we serve.
We have a responsibility to conduct business and patient care operations
in compliance with our mission, vision and values, as well as all applicable
laws and regulations.
Our code of conduct:
1.) To be committed to providing high quality care and services. Our
first responsibility is to our patients and their families.
2.) We will not discriminate against any patient for any reason including
race, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other classification
protected by law.
We will do our best to treat all of our customers, including patients,
families, physicians, coworkers, and all outside contacts with courtesy,
dignity, respect and professionalism.
3.) We have a duty to maintain our integrity and quality of our job performance.
We will do our best to effectively communicate to patients in a clear,
professional,
informed, and understandable manner.
4.) We will do our best to provide services and treatment based on the
patient’s clinical needs, and in compliance with all standards set forth
in our patient care policies.
5.) We will do our best to comply with all policies, procedures, regulations,
and federal and state laws governing advance directives and right to
die issues.
6.) We will do our best to ensure that admissions, transfers, and discharges
are medically
appropriate and in accordance with all legal requirements.
7.) We will always try to provide our employees a safe and healthy work
environment.
8.) We have a duty and responsibility to address any deficiency or error,
take appropriate action, and follow the problem to resolution.
9.) We are committed to high standards of business and professional conduct.
We will provide patient care and conduct business while following applicable
federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies and our accrediting
organization requirements.
10.) We will not offer, provide, solicit or receive kickbacks, bribes,
rebates or anything else of value in order to influence the referrals
of patients.
11.) We recognize that our employees are our most valuable assets. We
will strive to create a work place where employees are treated with fairness,
consistency, dignity, and respect while being empowered to get the job
done at or above expectations. We will endeavor to respect and protect
all confidential employee and patient information to the extent consistent
with any investigation which may occur involving such information.
12.) We will strive to show respect and consideration for one another,
regardless of status or position. We will not tolerate verbal or physical
harassment (including, without limitation, sexual harassment), work place
violence or intimidation.
13.) We will aspire to maintain open lines of communication so that the
views of each
employee or patient may be considered and their opinions may be given
proper respect.
14.) We are committed to fair and accurate billing and coding that is
in accordance with all federal and state laws including the Federal False
Claims Act, related administrative rules and similar state statutes.
We will do our best to prepare and maintain accurate and complete billing
records, and will not knowingly or deliberately submit a false claim
as outlined in the False Claims Act (FCA). Under the FCA, knowingly means
actually knowing that a claim is false, deliberately ignoring whether
a claim is true or false, or recklessly disregarding whether it is true
or false. We will do our best to bill only for services that are deemed
medically necessary, actually provided, and documented in the patient’s
medical records.
15.) We will do our best to assign diagnostic, procedural, and billing
codes that accurately reflect the services that were provided. We will
do our best to submit claims for services which are accurate and correctly
identify the services ordered and performed.
We will do our best to bill payors and patients according to all applicable
laws, regulations and policies.
16.) We will endeavor to respond to and resolve questions and complaints
related to a patient’s bill in a direct, courteous, and honest manner.
We will maintain billing records in a secure location for the period
of time as required by law.
17.) We are committed to protecting our clinic’s s property and information
against loss, theft, destruction, and misuse. We will honor the privacy
of patients and not reveal or discuss patient-related information except
with health care personnel involved in their care, or payors and others
authorized to review patient information in accordance with with privacy
and security regulations, state law, and our policies and procedures.
18.) We will maintain complete and accurate patient medical records and
maintain business records in accordance with federal and state privacy
and security laws, regulations. We will not alter or falsify information
on any record or document.
19.) All our staff members and management shall comply with the general
duties, disclosure, and other requirements as set forth in our operations
policy.
This includes:
-Display good judgment and high standards in all dealings;
-Represent our services fairly and honestly, stressing their value and
merit;
-Keep honest and accurate records;
-Bill correctly for services rendered;
-Take a proactive approach to the needs of our patients.
20.) We are committed to maintaining a work place that protects the health
and safety of our patients and employees. We will strive to comply with
all environmental laws, and safety and health requirements, whether established
by management, federal, state or local laws, or our accrediting organizations.
We will strive to take all reasonable precautions and follow all safety
rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment for our patients,
employees, physicians, and visitors. We will strive to provide employees
and patients a working environment free of issues associated with the
use and abuse of controlled substances and alcohol.
